I see little dots on the blue menu instead of lines and checkboxes. How can I fix this?

The new v.5 HUD and v.2 cuffs use Unicode symbols for a cleaner User Interface (UI).

Your computer needs to have correct fonts installed that can display Unicode (UTF-8) characters.

Common fonts that will display the required Unicode symbols correctly include:

  • MS Gothic (supplied with Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X)
  • Arial Unicode MS (supplied with MS Office)

Windows users can do any of the following:

  1. Windows Disk: On your Internet Explorer browser, click "View" > "Encoding" > "More" and select "Japanese (Auto-select)". That will start setup instructions telling you to insert your Windows disk. Just follow instructions, and relog SL if necessary.

    or
  2. MS Office Disk: Install Arial Unicode MS that comes with your MS Office Disk.

Apple users: Arial Unicode is bundled with OS X.

Another alternative is you can Google the above fonts, and see where you can purchase and download them.
