During setup, when I ctrl-drag my cuff or gag to the Yellow Ball, it tells me I didn't drop the right item, and the stuff in my Object folder starts moving into it.

[Edited 19 Jun 2009: the following workarounds are built into the HUD from v5.4.1 HUD onwards, available from today]

This is a particularly nasty viewer bug, and occurs sometimes in both SL Viewer (SLV) 1.22.11 and RestrainedLife Viewer (RLV) based on it.

Basically you ctr-drag just the cuff or gag from the Object folder into the Yellow Ball, but find your Object folder emptying into the Ball. You could crash and/or find that you lose some nocopy items this way.

This is not a LULU script bug, as there is no way a script can move items in your inventory - if that can be done by scripts there would be no need to get you to drag and drop stuff "manually" into the ball. A viewer, on the other hand, whether RLV or SLV, can and does move items out of your your inventory - the viewer detects your mouse movements or keystrokes and then proceeds to do things to your inventory (like moving or copying or deleting stuff).  When bugged, the viewer can do unexpected things to your inventory.

Workarounds:

  • If you are using RLV: Try relogging in SLV before starting setup. The avies who reported this problem in RLV could ctrl-drag and drop normally in SLV. Or, to be sure, you can do the additional steps:
  • If you are using SLV: To fix, try changing this one step:
    1. At the step where you copy and paste the cuff or gag from the bottom of the inventory into the Object folder, Instead of the Object folder, paste it into the "!   LULU Signature.... Boxed Set" folder where the HUD was originally.

This is the folder created by the boxed set. If this folder doesn't exist, just create a new empty "LULU folder" right under "My inventory" at the top level.
    2. Now you can continue ctrl-dropping the item into the Yellow Ball, as required.

The HUD v5.4.0 will have this workaround built in.

    Another (older) workaround is:

    1. Before setup, move all the items and sub-folders in your Object folder away somewhere else, so that your Object folder is empty.
    2. then start setup by clicking the "Lulu" logo on your HUD.

If you've lost any LULU gear due to this SL bug, IM Lulu Ludovico to get replacements.

If you've experienced this viewer bug, please IM Lulu Ludovico with the viewer versions (on your viewer menu, click "Help" > "About" and copy the viewer versions over, including any third-party viewer versions and SL versions). This will help Lulu monitor the situation.

(Many thanks to the time taken by Fey Telling for testing the workarounds, which will be implemented in the v5.4.0 HUD setup process)
