I have just run setup or activation but I am now told that it "was bugged by an intermittent SL asset server glitch". What do I do?

If you get the "bugged by an intermittent SL asset server glitch" message after setup or activation, SL has borked the process and you need to try again:

• to run setup again, click the Lulu logo on the HUD . It should prompt you to run setup.
  
  • if instead you get a message to "continue setup or cancel", hit "cancel".
  • if necessary, detach the HUD and re-wear.
  • if necessary, say "/1.reset" to revive any scripts that might have "died" in the process.
• to activate your plugins again, just wear your activator.
  • if nothing happens, say "/1.reset" to revive any scripts that might have "died" in the process.

For best results, do any or all of the following: 1. Make sure you follow the menu instructions slowly, step-by-step. Do not hurry by rushing through (for example, never click "I see it" when the item hasn't actually appeared in your inventory). 2. Try a little later. SL environment changes moment to moment. The asset servers or your sim may be under heavy load at the time you were setting up. 3. Try in another sim. If you were in a fast sim, try a slower sim (e.g. Mainland sim). If you were in a slow sim, move to a slightly faster one. Use the HUD sim-bar, which gauges the relative speeds of sims, as a guide. Generally, anything about 350-500 is pretty good for setting up or activation. Oddly, faster sims (over 1300) seem to encounter more problems. In all cases, try not to run setup in a crowded sim. 4. Go tto he Update Switch and update your Signature toy and get a fresh new one. Start setup afresh from that, and activate any plugins thereafter. You can also transfer other toys and stats from your old HUD. You should try this if you've tried all the above and you keep getting the same error again and again. This step will work if your original Signature toy was corrupted by the asset servers.

Setup/Activation, like any scripted process, will be difficult during periods when Second Life servers are under strain.

Setup/Activation will eventually succeed, only with Second Life it might take one setup, or two, or five or ten, depending on the Second Life conditions while you're running setup.

The good news is, you only need to run setup/activation initially (and really, after some practice, you can do it all under one minute, with your eyes closed), after that you're good to go.

Technical blah blah:
Besides the obvious sim lag, there is also communications lag, asset server lag, and the SL memory leak.
The last three are independent of the Class of servers.
Any and all these factors can and do affect the smooth running of your scripted toys.
