How do I do a Smart Reset?

Is your HUD 5.7.0 and above? If so, resetting has been made easier. Just say "/1.reset" or click the "reset" button on your help menu ("/1.help"). That's it! If the HUD is still borked after the reset, just get a free replacement one.

Sometimes, you might find your HUD not working correctly. For example,

• you try to run setup, or activate your plugins, but nothing happens.
• you click an HUD menu button and nothing happens.

This might be because a script or two has "died" due to a "stack heap collision" error or something similar. These are SL memory-related issues.

To fix, you can do a Smart Reset:

• say "/1.reset"; or
  
• call up the HUD menu by clicking the Lulu logo on your HUD, or saying "/1." and then hitting "smart reset"
  

Unlike the normal "Reset All Scripts in Selection" option on the SL menu, the Smart Reset will only reset the script that has stopped working, if any. In this case, Smart Reset will also restore any important data (e.g. your Circle, toy size and position etc.) that have been lost when that script stopped working. Your HUD will automatically detach, and you will need to wear it again from your inventory.

IMPORTANT: If you are using HUD v4.11.x Smart Reset might not work properly (just go get updated), and if you have v4.12.x, you might need to Smart Reset a few times. HUD v4.13.00 onwards should be fine.

QUICK RESET (HUD v5.2.1 onwards)

If Smart Reset did not find that any script had "died", it will tell you so. You should check whether your HUD is working fine, because it would have done some "cleaning" in the process of checking.

It will then give you an option to perform a Quick Reset. You can do so by choosing "quick reset" from the menu, or you can say "/1.quickreset". This will reset all major scripts in the HUD, clearing their memory etc. (but retaining all your settings and stats).

This should fix most problems.

FORCE RESET

If it still doesn't work, you have the option of saying "/1.forcereset" - this forces a more comprehensive reset, that requires you to detach your HUD, waiting a few moments (recommended half a minute) before wearing again.

UPDATE

If a force reset still doesn't fix your problems, your HUD might have been borked badly by SL, and you just need to get a fresh one. Go to the Secret Warehouse, hit the Update Switch and get a new one.

If your cuffs/gag are current (you can check by saying "/1.help" and clicking "latest fixes" to check the versions), then you can simply choose "HUD only" when presented with the option - in this case you won't need to setup everything again. You're just getting a new HUD, and you can transfer all your gear over.

If your cuffs/gag are not current, always choose "HUD+gear" (where "gear" is your gear, i.e. cuffs, gags, etc.) as you'll need to setup again. Remember to activate any plugins after that.

AFTER UPDATE

If updating to a fresh HUD does not solve your problem, there could be a systematic bug. Please IM Lulu Ludovico with details of the bug, including the exact steps required to reproduce it.
